Injectables in Baltimore, MD
Injectables, or facial fillers, are used to restore fullness and shape to the face. Skin wrinkles, lines, and lost volume are all signs of aging. Injectables help bring back a youthful, fresh look by recontouring your face, restoring lost volume, and enhancing the shape of your lips and profile. Dr. Kontis is a recognized expert in facial injections, and will provide you with a personal assessment to determine which facial filler will best meet your needs.
Dr. Kontis offers the following injectables to the residents of Baltimore, Maryland, Washington, DC, and the surrounding areas:
How is an injectable treatment done?
Facial fillers are injected beneath the skin in the treatment area. Anesthesia or a numbing agent may be used for some types of injectables. Treatment usually takes less than one hour. Some swelling and bruising may be apparent but will subside within a day or so, and normal activities can be resumed almost immediately.
How long do the effects last?
The results of injectables will depend on the type of dermal filler used. Collagen fillers are effective in treating crow’s feet, smile and lip lines, frown and forehead lines, marionette lines, and certain scars, with results that can last up to six months. Fillers that are hyaluronic acid-based (HA), such as Restylane® and Juvederm®, can smooth out facial wrinkles, shape facial contours, and enhance lips. Their results also last up to six months. Sculptra® is an FDA-approved treatment for facial fat loss in individuals with HIV, with treatment results that can last two years. ArteFill® and Radiesse® are also long-lasting treatments for smile lines and facial lines, with patients enjoying treatment results that last for one or two years.
