Viora ReFit™ in Baltimore, MD
Board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Theda C. Kontis offers Viora ReFit™ to the residents of Baltimore, Maryland, Washington, DC, and the surrounding areas.
After experiencing a tremendous amount of weight loss, patients may suffer from loose or sagging skin that often comes as a result of the decrease. And though at one time, the only solution was surgery, which is no longer the only option, thanks to a relatively new technique called Viora ReFit™.
What is Viora ReFit™?
Viora ReFit™ is an FDA-approved procedure that involves the use of another Viora product called Viora Reaction™. Both employ the use of radiofrequency (RF) waves and vacuum therapy to tighten and firm the skin. When these RF waves heat deep layers of the skin, the underlying elastin and collagen fibers begin to shrink, resulting in tighter, firmer skin in an identified problem area, while also increasing the skin’s elasticity.
Viora ReFit™ can be performed on an outpatient basis and requires no anesthesia or downtime.
How is Viora ReFit™ Performed?
Before undergoing the procedure, each patient meets with Dr. Kontis for an initial consultation. During this visit, problem areas will be discussed and identified and an individualized treatment plan will be created. On the day of the procedure, the patient lies still on an examining table while the doctor runs a special device emitting RF waves over top of the skin.
The length of the procedure is about 30 minutes, after which time the patient is able to resume normal daily activities.
When Will Results be Noticed?
Results from the Viora ReFit™ treatment can be seen immediately following the session. However, several appointments may be required to attain complete success in firming and tightening a specific problem area. The number of sessions a patient may need will depend on the amount of loose skin that needs to be tightened.
Is Viora ReFit™ Safe?
Yes, the procedure is completely safe when performed by a trained cosmetic surgeon, such as Dr. Kontis. There also is no risk of a reaction to anesthesia, making this treatment a much safer alternative to surgery.
What Areas Can Viora ReFit™ Be Used to Treat?
Viora ReFit™ can be used on nearly any part of the body, though it is commonly used to tighten skin on the abdomen, thighs, buttocks and upper arms.
How Long Will Results from Viora ReFit™ Last?
The results from Viora ReFit™ will vary according to the patient’s individual lifestyle. As a person naturally ages, the skin can sag again, or the patient could gain a lot of weight, which could cause the skin to loosen or reveal stretch marks that were not present prior to the initial procedure.
This procedure best serves those individuals who maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen. These patients can expect results to last up to several years.
Board certified in both Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Theda C. Kontis specializes in surgical and nonsurgical procedures that achieve youthful and natural results for the residents of Baltimore, Maryland, Washington, DC, and the surrounding areas.
